Newly opened British theme pub “The Hub” in Umeda

The Hub Pub opened in July 2008 in Umeda in the space which was a Nova branch - this is certainly a much better use!

Located near Chayamachi (2 minutes walk from the North exit of Hankyu railway station (about 3 minutes from Big Man and Kinokunia) it is part of a chain of pubs which has branches throughout Kansai.

It’s basically a sports bar with lots of TV screens showing a variety of sports. There is also a membership system but it’s all in Japanese. There is a no smoking room which is nice and plenty of tables and a fair selection of beers, spirits and cocktails. More popular with the locals there were a smattering of foreigners when we visited, and I get the feeling this place is aimed at the locals more than the specialist independent places like the Blarney Stone and Pig and Whistle.
