A belly full of Turkey in Osaka
Not Thanksgiving, not even Xmas but thanks to the Konak Turkish restaurant (English) you can now enjoy a taste of the Middle East, and what a delicious Arabian night.
Located in Shinsaibashi near exit 5 of the Yostubashi subway station on the blue Osaka Yotsubashi line, the restaurant is in B1 of the Kurimoto Kensetu Building. An elegant staircase leads you down into a full on Arabian themed spacious restaurant which is decorated with Hookahs, Arabic stained glass windows and other paraphernalia from Turkey. The staff speak great English and accommodate your every request - there is an all you can drink option which at 5000 yen, including several courses of great tasting food like hummus, kebabs, and other stuff I can’t remember, is great value.
The highlight has to be the belly dancer who appears from a lamp in a puff of smoke and wiggles until you are dizzy. Tania Luiz is the resident enchantress who is, according to her business card, a dancer, poet, maker of beauty and aspiring musician!
Konak is open weekdays from 11:30am - 3pm, and 5pm to 10:30pm, and on holidays and weekends opening 30 minutes later at 12pm.
You can call to make a reservation on 06 6534 7277, or email.
Highly recommended with great food and awesome if you’re missing juicy kebabs or hummus.
