Falafels found at last
With Japan having such an intrigue for all things foreign and strange, you’d have thought that people here would’ve cottoned on to the glory of falafels long before now.
I feel a fanfare coming on, parp parp, hurrah!
I couldn’t quite believe my luck when I stumbled across Falafel Garden in Kyoto yesterday. Yes, it has a garden, and yes (parp parp, hurrah!) it has falafels!
Plus! The word ‘falafel’ sounds brilliant in katakana: ファラフェル。
Only two stops away from Shijo on the Keihan line at place called Demachiyanagi, a whole host of Middle-Eastern treats await. Making up for lost time and severe chick pea deprivation, I proceeded to order as many things as one could possibly fit inside a pita bread…and my greedy tummy.
He’s gonna love your garlic breath.
