Go karting in Osaka - Maishima island

For anyone fed up with getting stuck at the millions of traffic lights and want to put the pedal to the metal without risking a 100,000 yen speeding ticket (!) you can vent your boy racer yearnings at a go kart track located on the artificial Maishima island near Universal Studios in Osaka.

The “Infinity Circuit” is a small track with lots of bends and a couple of straights and the fees start from about Y5,000 for 20 minutes. You can join up and get a discount for future races. The carts go about 30kph. Open every day except New Years.

More stuff on Maishima

Maishima is quite an odd place - reclaimed from the sea it’s home to a large sports stadium, a log cabin hotel retreat and camp ground, and the trash incinerator which takes care of all of Osaka’s waste.

The island is actually pretty quiet and has some nice walks - great if you want a bit of peace and quiet.

Getting there

Take the Osaka loop line to Nishi-kyujo station and change to the Yumesaki line (headed for Universal Studios Japan - you really cant miss the trains!) to Sakurajima Station (final stop).

Outside the station transfer to a bus to Maishima sports island sports center and then check the map for the go cart located on the north west side.
